There is something about autumn dressing that will always feel special to me. Perhaps it is the return of beautiful coats, rich colours, leather, boots and all those luxurious textures that disappear during the warmer months.

And Autumn/Winter 2026 feels particularly exciting.

After several seasons dominated by quiet minimalism, fashion is becoming more expressive again. We are still seeing timeless pieces and elegant silhouettes, but they are being mixed with texture, personality, glamour and a little drama. This season is not about disappearing into your clothes. It is about enjoying them.

These are the Autumn/Winter 2026 fashion trends I am looking forward to wearing — and, most importantly, making my own.

Burgundy: The Colour That Makes Everything Look More Expensive

Burgundy is one of those colours that never really leaves my wardrobe, but this autumn it is impossible to ignore.

Deep, sophisticated and incredibly flattering, burgundy is one of the key colour trends for Autumn/Winter 2026, appearing across the collections in everything from dresses and coats to accessories and leather. (Vogue⁠)

And I especially love burgundy leather.

A burgundy leather jacket, pencil skirt, dress, pair of boots or beautifully structured handbag immediately gives an outfit depth without having the severity of black. But the colour works just as beautifully away from leather: think burgundy knitwear, tailoring, satin dresses or a beautiful oversized coat.

For me, the chicest way to wear it is to allow the colour to speak for itself. Burgundy with cream, grey, navy, black or chocolate brown feels incredibly elegant.

And if you are brave enough? Burgundy from head to toe.

Chocolate Brown: The New Luxury Neutral

If autumn had a colour, chocolate brown might be it.

There is something incredibly rich about a deep brown outfit. It feels softer than black but just as sophisticated, particularly when several textures are combined.

Think chocolate-brown suede with cashmere. A brown leather jacket over tonal trousers. A long wool coat with a fine knit underneath. Brown boots, oversized sunglasses and a beautiful bag.

My favourite approach is a tonal chocolate brown outfit. Rather than trying to match every shade perfectly, mix espresso, cocoa, caramel and chestnut tones together. The slight differences make the outfit look richer and far more interesting.

The Bigger the Fur Coat, the Better

There are coats — and then there are coats that create the entire look.

For Autumn/Winter 2026, fur-effect textures are not being treated as a small detail. We are seeing volume, exaggerated proportions, long lengths, dramatic shoulders and beautifully tactile finishes. Faux fur in particular had a noticeable presence across the Autumn/Winter 2026 collections. (Who What Wear⁠)

Personally, I have always loved a big fur coat and probably always will, whether someone chooses real or faux fur according to their own preference.

I love the unapologetic glamour of it.

A huge coat worn over something incredibly simple — straight-leg jeans, a plain knit, leggings or a little black dress — can be far more powerful than an outfit where everything is competing for attention.

This season, let your coat be the outfit.

Animal Print Is a Neutral — At Least in My Wardrobe

Animal print returns so often that I almost hesitate to call it a trend anymore.

For Autumn/Winter 2026, it is once again appearing across fashion and accessories, with zebra, leopard, snakeskin and other animal-inspired textures adding personality to otherwise classic looks. London Fashion Week street style embraced animal print particularly boldly, while runway collections have explored it across clothing, shoes and outerwear. (ELLE⁠)

A leopard-print bag with an all-black outfit is effortless.

A zebra shoe with tailoring instantly changes the mood.

A full animal-print coat? Even better, when you have the confidence to carry it.

If you prefer something quieter, accessories are the easiest way into the trend. An animal print handbag, belt, shoe or scarf gives even the simplest outfit a little attitude.

I have always believed that animal print can be elegant. It is all about the styling.

Western, But Make It Fashion

The Western fashion trend is continuing into Autumn/Winter 2026, but this time I prefer it when it feels subtle rather than costume-like.

Knee-high leather boots, Western-inspired silhouettes, buckled belts and earthy leather tones are among the details coming through for the season. Harper’s Bazaar, for example, has highlighted minimalist Western and equestrian-inspired boots as key footwear directions for Fall/Winter 2026. (Harper’s BAZAAR⁠)

You do not need cowboy boots, denim, fringe and a Western hat all at once.

Choose one element.

A beautiful Western boot with a feminine dress.

A statement buckle belt over a blazer.

A suede fringed jacket with simple black trousers.

Or worn-in brown leather paired with something unexpectedly polished.

That contrast is what makes the Western look feel current.

The Clean Manicure: Quiet, Neat and Immaculate

While our clothes might be getting more expressive, nails are moving in a beautifully polished direction.

I love the return to the clean manicure: healthy-looking nails, neat cuticles, a refined shape and soft, sheer colour.

Milky pinks, barely-there nudes and translucent finishes give the hands that immaculate look without fighting with jewellery or an outfit. The soft “milky manicure” remains relevant for autumn 2026, alongside the season’s richer chocolate, burgundy and earth-tone nail colours. (Vogue⁠)

There is something very luxurious about nails that simply look perfectly cared for.

Sometimes the most understated beauty choices are the ones that make the biggest difference.

Of course, I will never completely abandon a darker autumn manicure — especially burgundy — but this season I love the idea of alternating between deep, dramatic colour and something completely clean.

Autumn/Winter 2026 Is About Personality Again

Perhaps what I love most about the Autumn/Winter 2026 trends is that there is no need to belong entirely to one aesthetic.

You can wear a minimalist chocolate-brown outfit underneath an enormous fur coat.

You can carry a leopard bag with classic tailoring.

You can wear Western boots with an extremely feminine dress.

You can have completely clean, natural-looking nails while wearing the most dramatic coat in the room.

Fashion becomes far more interesting when opposites meet.

And that is probably the most important trend of all: individuality.

I love discovering new trends every season. I love watching the shows, noticing the colours, the fabrics, the silhouettes and the little details that suddenly begin appearing everywhere.

But I have never believed that fashion should tell us who to be.

We don’t follow trends. We make them.

A trend can give us an idea, introduce us to a colour we had forgotten or encourage us to wear something differently. But personal style begins when we stop copying the entire look and start asking ourselves how we would wear it.

So yes, know the trends.

Play with them.

Take what you love and leave what you don’t.

Because the most fashionable thing you can wear — this autumn, this winter and every season after — is your own point of view.
